The Dieppe Market will reopen soon !
The Really Local Harvest team has been planning the long-awaited reopening of the Dieppe Market since it closed in March due to Covid-19. This week, with the provincial government’s announcement that farmers' markets could officially reopen, it’s time for the team to turn those plans into action.
Although no specific reopening date has been announced, it will be in the coming weeks. Maxime Gauvin, Executive Director at Really Local Harvest said last week,
“We have to be sure that we adapt to the protocols outlined by the province and the office of the Chief Medical Officer. The safety of our vendors, customers and staff must be number 1. There are a lot of factors to consider and integrate into our process before we reopen”.
One of the main challenges faced by the non-profit cooperative is that each vendor is their own business. That means that not only does the market need to address all of the restrictions, so does each vendor looking to participate.
“The first step to opening is to make sure that the building meets and even exceeds the health regulations issued in response to this pandemic, but also and above all that each vendor on site has his own operational plan for COVID-19. We’ll need to carefully evaluate each plan one by one before allowing any product exchange on site to avoid any risk of contamination ordanger, for our vendors, staff and our customers”.
