Will there be a futur for the Virtual Market ?
With the announcement of the reopening of Farmers Markets and more particularly the Dieppe Market, it’s natural to wonder about the future of the Virtual Market.
Being born in response to the COVID-19 crisis, The Virtual Market was created as a way for farmers and producers to bring their products to consumers while maintaining safety for vendors, customers and staff. A way for customers to support local and essential products to get on the tables of Dieppe Market customers.
It became clear very quickly that there was a need for this type of service, even as things get closer to normal. Customers and vendors alike are sharing the hope that it will continue and we’re happy to confirm that this will in fact be the case! The team will continue to develop and improve the service to meet the needs of vendors and customers. There are also plans to extend not only the number of vendors but also to expand its range of services.
Not everyone can make it to the Market on Saturday, for lots of different reasons. The Virtual Market is a great compliment to the Express Market and other initiatives we’ve been doing for years to help shorten the trip your food takes between where it's produced and getting to your plate.
Stay tuned for more details, but rest assured that Really Local Harvest is focused on supporting farmers and producers in making the products you love accessible.
